History
Before we became the independent company of Optima Gold Securities we were the bullion department for Spink & Sons. Spink were formed in 1666 by John Spink and were based just off of Lombard Street in London. The Great Fire of London in 1666 forced Spink to move to another location until their premises were rebuilt.
In 2002, Spink & Sons was acquired through Christie's by a Singapore-based investment firm. During the transition, the new ownership chose to close the bullion department. Long-standing clients and staff stepped forward to buy the department out, and Optima Gold Securities was formed — the name a quiet tribute to Alfred Terry Spink, the firm's most respected bullion specialist.
We continued to trade from Spink's historic premises on Southampton Row for four years before moving in 2006 to our current home at Savoy Court, just off the Strand and adjacent to the Savoy Hotel.
